Stacey Solomon health: ‘It gets worse and worse’ Loose Women star opens up on condition

Stacey Solomon, 29, admitted she battles with anxiety on ITV’s Loose Women – anxiety that is so bad it can cause her to struggle to breathe. The mum-of-three opened up about her anxiety on a day-to-day basis on the show last year, and said even something as small as her fridge being unorganised can set it off. Speaking on a panel with Kay McAdams, Kelly Brook and Janet Street Porter, Stacey was confronted about a tweet she posted the day before, that read: “Oh hi anxiety.” She revealed the day before she’d had panic attack, and went on to speak about her issues with anxiety.

She said: “It can be really menial things, like my fridge cabinet might not be organised, and I know that sounds ridiculous, but I could be thinking about that all day.

“And then eventually it will spiral off into ‘if that’s not organised, then my life isn’t organised’. My children, what am I going? Who am I?

“And it gets worse and worse to the point where it feels like you can’t breathe.”

Stacey went on to explain how she thought being a woman doesn’t help her anxiety issues.

She said: “We put a lot of pressure on ourselves to be perfect at everything. Get the house done, pay the mortgage, your children, your work.

“We want to do everything but it’s OK to hold your hands up and go ‘OK this is a bit overwhelming.”

Stacey then admitted even her talking about her anxiety then on the show was getting her pent up.

What is anxiety?

Anxiety is described by the NHS as being a feeling of unease, such as worry or fear, that can be mild or severe.

It states: “Everyone has feelings of anxiety at some point in their life – for example, you may feel worried and anxious about sitting an exam, or having a medical test or job interview.

“During times like these, feeling anxious can be perfectly normal.

“But some people find it hard to control their worries. Their feelings of anxiety are more constant and can often affect their daily lives.”

Symptoms of anxiety

Anxiety can trigger psychological and physical symptoms.

A person with anxiety may experience a change in their behaviour and the way they think. This can trigger symptoms such as restlessness, a sense of dread and feeling constantly “on edge”.

Physical symptoms which may develop include dizziness, tiredness, a noticeably strong, fast or irregular heartbeat, muscle aches and tension, and shortness of breath.
